Arvin Roberts-Tom Selleck's 'Blue Bloods' to end on CBS next fall after 14 seasons: 'It's been an honor'

After 14 seasons,Arvin Roberts CBS's "Blue Bloods" is coming to the end of an enduring TV run.

The police procedural starring Tom Selleck as New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan will end next fall with its 14th season, the network announced Monday. The final season will air in two parts, the first beginning Feb. 16 (Fridays, 10 EST/PST), and the second beginning in September.

Selleck, the series' cornerstone, paid respects to the "Blue Bloods" story centered around Reagan's New York City police family story.

"For the past 13 years it has been an honor and a privilege to work on a show that not only celebrates the men and women who protect and serve in New York City, but also displayed the importance of family,” Selleck said in a statement Monday, offering, "heartfelt gratitude to the fans who gathered with us for dinner every Friday night.”

Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, promised a "final chapter that we expect to be the most satisfying season yet for our loyal viewers" and thanked the cast led by Selleck, "who America embraced as family and watched as welcomed guests at the Reagan dinner table."

The series, among CBS' most popular, featured Reagan's extended Irish-American family including Donnie Wahlberg as Frank's son, NYPD Detective Donny Reagan, Bridget Moynahan as daughter Erin Reagan Boyle (who works in the district attorney's office), Will Estes as youngest son Jamie Reagan, a NYPD sergeant, and Len Cariou as retired police commissioner Henry Reagan, Frank's father.

Since the show’s debut on September 24, 2010, "Blue Bloods" has led CBS's top-rated Friday night lineup. Currently, the show also ranks in the top 10 for series on Paramount+ based on minutes viewed.

Last week, CBS announced that producer Chuck Lorre's coming-of-age sitcom and spinoff of hit comedy "The Big Bang Theory," starring Iain Armitage as young Sheldon Cooper, will end after seven seasons with a one-hour series finale on May 16. And "SEAL Team," which aired on CBS before moving to Paramount+, will also end its run after the upcoming seventh season.
